R&D

At Kowala Foundry we continuously invest in new technologies, processes and solutions that increase the quality and precision of our castings. We cooperate with research institutions, including the Łukasiewicz Research Network, to combine industrial practice with expert knowledge and implement modern solutions for our clients.

What is R&D?

Research and development (R&D) is the process of creating and improving technologies, products and services. In practice, this means testing new solutions, analysing materials, implementing innovative production methods and continuously seeking ways to improve quality and reduce costs. Thanks to R&D, we are able to offer clients modern and more efficient castings tailored to market requirements.

In our foundry the process is as follows:
Project and 3D model

We prepare a digital casting model, often using 3D prototype printing, which allows the shape and functionality to be quickly verified.

We analyze the properties of alloys and select the appropriate method, e.g. sand casting or aluminum pressure casting.

We create a sand or metal mold, maintaining dimensional precision and quality control.

We make the casting and then perform CNC machining, sandblasting and quality testing.

Based on research results, we implement improvements to the design, alloy composition or technological process.

What sets our technology apart?

Within our research and development (R&D) department we cooperate with the Krakow Institute of Technologywhich allows us to implement the latest scientific achievements in industrial practice. Together we carry out projects in the field of designing, testing and optimizing casting processesas a result of which our castings are characterized by innovation, high precision and repeatable quality already at the concept and prototype stage.

Design Applications at Kowala Foundry

Non-Ferrous Metal Castings for Industrial Machinery

  • We produce aluminium and brass castings for gearboxes, housings and mechanical components.
  • We select alloys with increased resistance to abrasion and corrosion.
  • We offer casting mold design for specific industrial applications.

Aluminium Castings for the Energy Sector

  • We produce castings for energy equipment – housings, bodies, connectors and mounting components.
  • We use alloys resistant to high temperature and pressure.
  • We support R&D projects for the energy sector, including prototyping and material testing.

Structural Castings for Construction and Architecture

  • We supply aluminium and brass castings for structural and decorative applications.
  • We produce window joinery components.
  • We combine aesthetics and durability, carrying out both individual and serial projects.

Prototyping and Reverse Engineering in Foundry

  • We use 3D printing and 3D scanning to create test models and molds.
  • This allows rapid verification of the casting design before the start of serial production.
  • Thanks to R&D technology, we develop innovative casting solutions tailored to client needs.
